The Joint Committee on Utilities, Energy, & Telecommunications is currently considering legislation that would require Massachusetts homeowners to conduct an energy audit and receive an energy score before they would be able to list the home for sale.
Senate bill1839 would disrupt the real estate marketplace by complicating and delaying home sales; negatively impacting those who do not have the resources to invest in energy efficiency; and would replace a successful voluntary program with a state mandated one. Simply put, this law would punish many homeowners in the Commonwealth. Especially seniors who may be living on a fixed income.
Every home owner needs to know the status of this bill.
